Morat Swoboda Motion GmbH, the equal joint venture between Swoboda and the Franz Morat Group, appointed Dr. André Luhn (39 years old) to the post of managing director on January 1, 2023.

André Luhn: Many years of experience in the automotive and micromobility sectors

Luhn, who has a degree in industrial engineering, will strategically develop the organization of Morat Swoboda Motion further in line with established growth targets. The industrial engineer who was born in Erfurt, Germany, began his professional career in engine development for a leading German car manufacturer. Luhn then moved to a publicly traded automotive supplier, where he supervised national and international management tasks in the Quality, Production, and Task Force Management departments. Most recently, Luhn held the position of senior vice president for the micromobility product segment at a renowned German automotive supplier.

Growth results in facility expansion at the production site in Poland

Morat Swoboda Motion has been able to acquire numerous high-volume orders in recent years, which will almost quadruple company revenues by the end of 2026. The production site in Nowa Ruda was commissioned in 2019. There, on an area of 4,500 m², the company primarily manufactures gear components for e-bike drives and e-automotive projects. The production facility is currently being expanded to 9,000 m² by the addition of a new production hall, which will be operating at 100% capacity within one or two years as a result of series starts. In order to be equipped for further growth and future projects, the company is already working on new production area concepts.

Expansion of manufacturing technology spectrum through new projects

Due to the new orders, the current technology spectrum consisting of gear hobbing, vacuum hardening, centerless grinding, hard turning, and continuous generating grinding will be expanded by the production processes of two-frequency inductive hardening, gear honing, spline rolling, and shot peening. The processing machines are intelligently interconnected by automation based on automotive standards. A large number of robots are responsible for machine loading, including loading and unloading the machine tools. This ensures streamlined and efficient production processes from incoming goods to the finished geared components. Since the summer of 2022, Morat Swoboda Motion has been certified in accordance with IATF 16949, the global quality standard of the automotive industry.
